@Techcrunch is/was down because of following reasons
- They have single master MySQL Server - Thats Michael Arrington.
- Their architecture does not support auto switch to hot backup - no hotness in Techcrunch
- They needs some one to stay at Michael's house 24x7x365 to monitor server so that it doesnt go down - His garage is filled up Caffeine and Alcohol for 18 year old kids who slog for Arrington
- They use Ruby On Rails like Twitter does, but this time technology is not a problem, attitude is what is causing the downtime.
You think I'm kidding?.
